Sonny Bryan’s Smokehouse: Revamping a Legendary Smokehouse’s Online Experience
1251 W. Campbell Road, Suite 240
Richardson, TX 75080
Challenges
Sonny Bryan’s Smokehouse had a great brand and a loyal following, but their existing Shopify site wasn’t living up to its potential. They were paying monthly for e-commerce features they didn’t need, the mobile experience was clunky despite most visitors coming from mobile, and the navigation was confusing. Contact forms felt overwhelming, blog content was hard to find, and the same information appeared in multiple places. All of this made it harder for visitors to quickly find what they wanted and take action.
Solution
We migrated the website from Shopify to WordPress to make it easier to manage (yes, WordPress CMS is still more robust and flexible than Shopify and is our choice for non-ecommerce sites) and reduce unnecessary costs. While keeping the recognizable Sonny Bryan’s brand style, we restructured the navigation to guide visitors more naturally putting catering front and center as the primary lead driver.
We redesigned the site to work beautifully on mobile, improved content readability, and implemented Gravity Forms for simpler, more user-friendly inquiries. All blog content was migrated and reorganized, duplicate pages were consolidated, and a one-time technical SEO process ensured that search rankings were preserved. Performance tracking tools were also added so the team can see how visitors are interacting with the new site.
Results
The new site now feels cleaner, faster, and more inviting, especially on mobile.Visitors can find catering details quickly, submit a request without feeling overwhelmed, and easily browse blog content. The business has cut unnecessary monthly costs, streamlined its online presence, and is now positioned to grow with ongoing marketing and SEO. With a site that’s easy to update in-house, the team can keep menus, blog posts, and promotions fresh without technical roadblocks.
